David Ewing Duncan

David Ewing Duncan is an award-winning science journalist and the best-selling author of 11 books published in 21 languages; and an entrepreneur (co-founded three companies), and advisor. He is a correspondent for Vanity Fair and a Contributing Editor for a special edition of Scientific American on personalized and precision medicine. He is CEO and Curator of Arc Fusion, a global event, problem solving, and consulting business specializing in "the fusion of health, IT, and medicine—and everything else." He has been a health expert in residence at IDEO.
David’s last book was Talking to Robots: Tales from our Human-Robot Futures (Dutton, 2019). He has written over 500 articles and columns for Wired, Vanity Fair, The New York Times, Atlantic, Fortune, National Geographic, and many others, and is a former commentator for NPR and special correspondent for ABC’s Nightline. He is the founding director of the Center for Life Science Policy at UC Berkeley. His next book, due out in 2023, is The Secret Life of Earth’s Smallest Creatures: How the microbiome of the planet connects everything, co-authored with Craig Venter.
He has served on special committees on communicating science for the National Academies of Science. David has won the AAAS Magazine of the Year award (now the AAAS Kavli Science Journalism Award) and was three times nominated for National Magazine Awards. He has been a faculty member of Singularity University. David has delivered hundreds of talks around the world and appears frequently in the major media.
