Dr. Robert Masson, M.D., is an internationally recognized neurosurgeon who has committed his 34 year neurosurgical career to minimally invasive spine surgery and sports spine medicine. Always innovating and pushing his limits and boundaries, he is the Founder and CEO of eXpanded eXistence™, a mixed reality and machine learning, MedTech company building the operating system for the surgical procedure room and using artificial intelligence to evolve forward the best surgery logistics possible.
He has developed spine implants, technology and procedures, focusing on least invasive surgery and maximum functional recovery. He has served on advisory boards for microsurgical systems, stem cell research, radiological software, orthobiologics and sports injury treatment & prevention. In addition, he has developed, educated ,and influenced products for groups such as Sofamor Danek, Depuy Synthes Spine, a Johnson and Johnson Company, Centinel Spine and Biedermann Motech.
Dr. Masson completed his education and neurosurgical training at the University of Florida under Professor Dr. Albert Rhoton. His first practice was in Washington state in 1995, and then he returned to Florida and started his renowned spine surgery practice in 1999 in Orlando. He launched two separate ambulatory surgery centers in Orlando, FL and Park City, UT. He founded Florida’s first JCAHO accredited Spine Center of Excellence at Orlando Health Health Central Hospital.
His surgical passion is lean performance, systems and teams for the best outcomes. He has performed over 13,000 procedures and trained over 1000 surgeons worldwide.
Dr. Masson is the world leader and inventor of the iMAS 360 lumbar reconstruction platform, and is committed to 100% microsurgical and minimally invasive solutions, both decompressive and reconstructive and his practice is an international destination for cervical arthroplasty.
He has treated a broad variety of elite professional athletes and lifelong weekend warriors, recognizing the importance of spine surgery to highly functional people who have lost their functional capabilities in the midst of a spine health crisis.
He is a proud father of five and life long athlete having played football in college. Since then he enjoys multiple sports including tennis, basketball, prototype racing and snow skiing. He was second in the 2019 Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona in the Le Mans Prototype 2 Class with his oldest son Kyle. He commits to pushing his personal limits and his hobbies include aviation, scuba diving, mountain climbing and mountain biking.
